Group prenatal care is a unique form of prenatal care which puts the emphasis on the woman who is pregnant, not just on the pregnancy. Each woman is an individual within the group that shares the bond of being pregnant at the same time.
Group prenatal care gathers women together who are at similar points in their pregnancies and who will deliver their babies around the same time. Your group meets for about 8 sessions starting at around 14 weeks gestation. Before this time you would have “traditional” prenatal visits with your doctor. In each session you will have some private time with your doctor followed by group time. During the meeting you are able to share your experiences with one another while also receiving education on topics such as the Quad screen, ultrasound, nutrition and exercise in pregnancy, normal pregnancy and labor, options in labor pain management, breast feeding, infant care and many other topics
